Alpena Municipal Council Applies for State Grant on Behalf of NOAA

Alpena- Alpena Municipal Council has applied for a state grant that would add several new pieces to the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center.

The grant would help cover a $182,500 project that would build an outdoor auditorium, a kayak and boat landing, a presentation area, and multiple landscaping improvements. NOAA would be responsible in matching the grant if awarded. The city would only supply the engineers to help guide the project. The grant could be received as early as February of 2018 and work could begin as early as October of 2018.

The city applied for the same grant with the same project in 2014 but were unsuccessful.
