ALPENA, Mich. — If you passed by the American Legion Saturday, you may have seen some fantastic cars.
Saturday’s car show at the legion featured automobiles from across American history, including a 1914 Model T!
The show raised money to support Alpena’s Legion post.
Organizer Amanda Kensa said the effort’s especially important this year, given the complications of pandemic life.
“Zip. Zero. Zilch. There wasn’t anything we could do for fundraising last year because most of that involves the public. And because of that nice plague of COVID-19, we were unable to do the extra fundraising. And without those funds, we can’t help the veterans in our area.”
Funds came from a chicken dinner, blind auction, and registration fees.
At the end of the day, Gary Porter took home the award for best in show with his 1958 Chevy Impala.
