Alpena High School Robotics Team qualifies for the first Robotics World Championships

ALPENA, MI. – The AHS robotics team has qualified for the robotics world championship.

Team #5505 started their 14 hundred miles travels on Monday to bring their robot to the highest level of competition yet. After two district and one state level competition, the team is in awe of their own progress.

“We didn’t really think we were going to make it this far.” said team member, William Bushey .


The students boarded the Houston–bound bus Monday morning.
The support for the AHS robotics team is community wide. “This team is working to improve and improve. Nothing is really good enough for them. That is the main reason we are doing so well.” said mentor, Chris Boyk.

The Economic Generator Network announced Monday, team 5505 is the recipient of the outstanding contributor award worth 15 grand. Alpena is one of the 64 teams in Michigan attending the championship. Competition begins this Wednesday, April 20th through Saturday the 23rd.
