Alpena golfer reflects on work experience in Augusta

ALPENA, Mich. — Two months ago, Alpena senior Kennedy Ellis signed her National Letter of Intent to play golf, while majoring in Environmental Studies at Olivet College. In the future, she wants to have a career in the Turfgrass industry for golf.

Last week, Ellis got some good experience on what the Turfgrass industry is like. She spent a week down in Augusta, Georgia to become a Grounds Crew member in the Women’s Augusta National Amateur Tournament.

“It was awesome to be on the course,” said Ellis. “I was able to do what I love and was able to meet a lot of remarkable people in the industry.”

Ellis plans on being a member of the Grounds Crew at the 2021 Women’s U.S. Open. That tournament will be held from June 3 to June 6.
