Alpena Falls to Cadillac Vikings 3-0

ALPENA, MI – The Alpena Wildcats were coming off their strong home opener win last week against Gaylord and looked to grab back to back wins at home on Wednesday.

This time at home they would host the Cadillac Vikings, and the Wildcats were ready to go, looking to keep this hot streak going. Starting off in set 1, it would be a close contest early on. Clarissa Musta would spike it over to the Wildcats who wouldn’t be able to control the return and Emilee Spoomer would try and dive for the ball but just wouldn’t get there in time.

Alpena would fight back in this set though. Allie Urlaub picks up a great service ace and had a lot of great serves in this set.

Cadillac would still end up winning set 1 and into set 2, Alpena would try and keep this rally alive, but another great spike from Clarissa Musta would get the Vikings the point and they would win the second set convincingly.

The third set would be gutcheck time for the Wildcats. This next rally would be capped off  by a spike this time from Alpena, great work from Tiffany Tessmer for this point.

Coming down towards the end of this set the Wildcats would look to start a comeback in this one. A great diving save from Marah Wisniewski would give Maddie Linton the opening to send the ball deep into the back corner. Ref calls it in and great play by the Wildcats.

Despite this, Cadillac would grab set 3 and complete the sweep against Alpena 3-0. The Wildcats will hope to bounce back Saturday as they take part in the Mitten Bay Classic down in Bay City.
