ALPENA, Mich.– At this past Tuesday’s board of commissioners meeting, the county confirmed the sale of bonds to the George N. Fletcher Alpena County Library to help fund the building’s upcoming renovation efforts.
On Monday, that process will begin with the transportation of the building’s seventy six thousand books to new, temporary locations in the county. Specifically, they will be moved to makeshift libraries set to open later this summer.
The renovations are intended to bring the library into the twenty–first century, with greater accessibility for disabled people and more open space.
Information about the construction process can be found on the Alpena County Library’s website or facebook page.
