Alpena County Changing Insurance Carriers
Alpena County has announced that they will be changing insurance carriers next year.
Commissioners voted 5 to 3 to change their coverage from Lappan Agency to Alpena Agency for their general liability and property insurance.
In September at the meeting you’re currently seeing on your screen, Commissioner Cam Habermehl expressed his dismay with Lappan Agency over an insurance settlement about a burnt out home on Avery Street.
The county settled for roughly $26,000, however Habermehl firmly believed their full replacement policy should have covered the entire cost of the building.
As far as the offers from the agencies go they were very similar in nature and price.
Alpena Agency bid just under $91,000, with Lappan Agency slightly lower.
Alpena County has previously been covered by Alpena Agency, most recently from 2010 to 2013 – They’ve been covered by Lappan the past three years.
