The Alpena County Finance Committee has adopted their general fund budget and policy for 2017.
The committee adopted the $9.2 million budget for 2017, but they expected to have just $8.8 in revenues – Leaving a deficit of around $400,000.
The deficit is being primarily attributed to increases in wages, and additional hours for county workers starting in the New Year.
However, Alpena County usually over estimates the deficit to be on the safe side.
By tapping in to some of their surplus funds the county hopes to ease the predicted budget deficit to around $100,000.
The full Alpena County Board of Commissioners plan to meet on December 20th to approve the recommendation.
