Alpena Chamber of Commerce Sell Fireworks Bracelets to Raise Funds for 4th of July Event

Members of the Chamber of Commerce were busy this week selling bracelets for the summer. The fundraiser helps the chamber collect money to go towards the city of Alpena fireworks event on the 4th of July.

President, Jackie Krawczak said the chamber starts early with the fundraiser in order to collect over $20,000 for the community event. She said it’s important for the community to donate to keep the event alive.

“They’re nobodies fireworks except for the community’s. Nobody pays for them except the people that watch the fireworks. So it’s so important that people donate if they want the fireworks to happen,” Krawczak said.

The fireworks are not only an event for residents to enjoy. The loud noise and bright colors of celebration also brings tourist to the Lake Huron area.

“Communities of all sizes have a variety of celebrations for a lot of reasons. One it’s community spirit and community building, two it brings people into the community, which is important for our economy, and three it helps us for the 4th of July it helps us celebrate a very important holiday,” she added.

If you would like to donate, you can stop by the chamber of commerce during regular business hours. Or look out for more red, white and blue around Alpena on Saturday may 13th.
