Alpena Chamber announces drive-thru holiday parade

ALPENA, Mich. — The Alpena Area Chamber of Commerce announced it will host a drive-thru holiday parade on Friday, Dec. 11 at the Alpena County Fairgrounds. The public will have from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. to drive through the designated are to view the floats.  The Chamber said volunteers will manage a continuous flow of traffic with no stops and no one exiting their vehicles.  Chamber President and CEO Adam Poll said the drive-thru option was a practical way to keep everyone safe while still enjoying the holidays.

“We still had a lot people that were interested in and wanted to have some sort of parade,” said Poll.  “After looking around at other examples of drive-thru parades, this seemed like a practical way to keep everyone safe,” he said.

The Annual Bolenz Jewelry Holiday Parade was cancelled due to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services epidemic order limiting the size of social gatherings.

Individuals interested in presenting a float in the parade lineup should contact the Chamber by Wednesday, Dec. 9.
