Alcona rolls past Posen on Pink Night

ALCONA, Mich. — After dropping a conference match to Whittmore-Prescott last Monday, the Alcona Tigers varsity volleyball team got back to their winning ways, beating Posen 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-22). It was Pink Night in Alcona as both teams and officials wore pink to show support to those who were affected by breast cancer. With the victory, the Tigers have won three of their last four games.

Rachel Layton led the charge for the Tigers with 16 kills. Lily Bilbey added six aces and Caroline Forsythe picked up six digs. Ava Wesner led the Vikings with 12 digs and five digs. Madison Menzel collected five kills and two blocks and Abigail Shellie finished with four blocks and a kill.

Both teams return to action on Oct. 13. Alcona will travel to Hale to take on the Eagles, while Posen will host Atlanta.
