Alcona put a little faith in close District Semifinal victory over Roscommon
Alcona's Faith Wallenmaier drops five 3-pointers in the District Semifinal.
Oscoda, Mich. — The Alcona Tigers battled the Roscommon Bucks in the Division 3 – District 69 Semifinal. This game was close from beginning to end. Junior point guard Megan Grove put the Tigers ahead 9-8 with two back-to-back 3-pointers in the first quarter. Peyton Church led the Bucks in the first half, dropping two 3-pointers and Roscommon led 15-14.
Alcona senior Faith Wallenmaier was the hero of the second half. That’s when she scored all 19 of her points, including five 3-pointers. Roscommon freshman Avery Smitz added two big threes in the fourth putting the Bucks down 38-37 with less than 30 seconds to go, but the Tigers made their free throws winning this one 40-37.
