Alcona couple teach mushroom workshop
ALPENA, Mich.— Not much mushroom production goes on here in Northeast Michigan, but one couple duo is looking to change that. Residents were hands on Saturday at Wandering Winds Farm for the first annual mushroom workshop.
Adam and Madaline Beckta hosted the event teaching farm lovers how to produce mushrooms. The two teachers demonstrated the drill and fill log method using super maple logs to grow mushrooms.
It takes almost a year to grow these mushrooms, but they are protein efficient. Owner Adam Beckta says, “His mission is to teach more people about farm production and new healthy alternatives.
