Alcona County hosting food pantry giveaway

LINCOLN, Mich. – Residents in need of food in Alcona County have a chance to get some groceries free of charge

The Alcona Pop Up Pantry will host a food giveaway on Wednesday February 17th from 4 to 6 pm.

Due to the pandemic, the pantry sponsored by the Alcona County Commission on Aging and a host of others will be a drive–thru event.

Organizers said this month the pantry will be collecting donations to help keep Alcona students warm this winter.

“So our goal this time is to help replenish that closet for both the elementary and the high school, anything that’s donated for this time, this month will go towards that and then the food bank will match whatever is donated” said Pantry Coordinator Debbie Reames.

Reames stressed that this event is only for Alcona County residents.

All donations collected at the drive up pantry will go toward warm clothes for students in the area.

Reames said that if you’re unable to make it to Wednesday’s event or miss out, there is also another pantry giveaway at the Greenbush Fire Department the same day.
