Aging adults to receive funding for care during COVID-19 pandemic

ALPENA, Mich – Michigan Department of Health and Human Services received approximately 25 million from the CARES Act to help aging residents during the COVID–19 pandemic.

This initiative is to help aging adults stay healthy and continue to live independently by providing support services such as help with bathing, dressing, support for caregivers, and more.

According to spokesperson, Dr. Alexis Travis, the need for these services has increased as the locations where many people have typically gone have closed due to COVID–19.

The CARES Act is also providing supplemental funding for programs authorized by the Older Americans Act of 1965 to support Michigan residents 60 and over served under this act.
