Action is needed for social security recipients
ALPENA, Mich. -Action is needed for people receiving supplemental security income who do not file tax returns and have dependents.
SSI recipients who don’t file tax returns are expected to receive their automatic economic impact payments directly from the treasury department in early May.
For those who did not file 2018, 2019 taxes and have qualifying children under age 17, they should not expect their automatic payments.
For those falling under this category, social security is recommending you visit IRS’ web page and enter the information required about you and your qualifying children.
By taking this additional step, $500Â per dependent child in addition to the $1200 could be distributed depending on qualifications.
The deadline for submitting your information is no later than Tuesday, May 5, at irs.gov/coronavirus.
