Star Connor is the weekend anchor, reporter for WBKB News Channel 11. She joined the team in August 2016.
Star’s excited to be in Michigan, after traveling from her hometown of Gastonia, North Carolina. Star holds a Bachelors of Science in Journalism and Mass Communications from North Carolina A&T State University. She has worked as an on-air talent/producer for Radio One in Charlotte, North Carolina, and the Community Affairs reporter at WQNC 92.7 The Block.
While at Radio One she interviewed multiple big name celebrities including, Aretha Franklin and the Senior Advisor to President Obama. Star has reported from the red carpet and has attended multiple Grammys, BET Awards, BET Honors and more. Star also produced the The Yolanda Adams Morning Show on WPZS Praise 100.9 in addition to being a reporter for Mstarz News in New York, and for the Charlotte Observer.
During her career, Star has been named the Peer Award recipient. She also received a media sales honor certificate from the National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation. Star is also a member of National Association of Black Journalist. While attending college, Star participated in the NABJ Short Course, interned at WCNC NBC 6, WGHP Fox 8, NPR, and WPEG Power 98.
Star has always been inquisitive since childhood, wanting to learn as much as she could, her curiosity led her to Journalism. One of Star’s favorite memories during her career was covering the 2012 Democratic National Convention.
