A record number of Michiganders anticipated to cast mail-in ballot

ALPENA, Mich. — The U.S. Post Office is sending reminder cards to households encouraging voters to plan ahead if they plan to vote by mail in the November 3 general election.  Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson is also encouraging voters to plan ahead by applying for absent voter ballots online or through the mail as soon as possible.  Secretary Benson said her office anticipates a record-number of Michiganders will cast absentee ballots.

“They recognize and trust that it is a safe, secure and convenient way to participate in our democracy, and we will continue doing all we can to ensure voters understand their rights and how to exercise them ahead of November,” said Benson.

All registered voters can apply for an absent voter ballot and may do so by filling out an online form at Michigan.gov/vote.

Clerks will begin mailing out regular absent voter ballots on Sept. 24.  They will be available for early in-person voting in clerk’s offices on that date as well.
