A number of prescribed fires are scheduled for this week throughout the Huron-Manistee National Forest in preparation for the 2019 wildfire season.
Areas where burns are scheduled include Alcona, Iosco, and Oscoda counties. Forest services use these burns as opportunities to reduce hazardous fuels from building up. These types of fires are controlled by firefighters and forest workers to ensure safety of the public.
