6,498 confirmed cases of COVID-19; 184 Michigan deaths

LANSING, Mich. –– The number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is reporting 6,498 confirmed cases of COVID-19, and 184 deaths.

These are the latest numbers provided by the health department as of 3 p.m. today. The map provided by MDHHS indicates the counties where the cases have been confirmed.

To date, no cases have been reported in the Northeast Michigan counties of Alpena, Alcona, Oscoda, Montmorency or Presque Isle.

District Health Department No. 4 is reminding residents to adopt the following prevention measures, which include:

  • Cleaning your hands Scrubbing with soap for at least 20 seconds. Using hand sanitizer if you cannot wash.
  • Avoiding close contact with people who are
  • Staying home when you are sick, except to get medical care. Call ahead before going to your healthcare provider.
  • Covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throwing the tissue in the Immediately wash your hands.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting frequently-touched
