48th Annual Brown Trout Festival: Day Two Results

ALPENA, MI- The opening weekend of the 2022 Brown Trout festival concluded this evening.  The day included a new leader in four of the five fish categories. In addition to the overall competition, the 8th annual Thunder Bay Bass Classic took place.

The leaderboard as of 7/17 at 9 P.M are as follows.

Brown Trout

  • Tim Wieczorkowski: 6.25 lbs.

Lake Trout

  • Mike Tanner: 26.o lbs.
  • Pete Doubek: 21.65 lbs.
  • Kyle Wirgau: 18.65 lbs.
  • Damon McCall: 17.05 lbs.
  • Phil Smigelski: 16.4 lbs.

Salmon

  • Dylan Orr: 26.75 lbs.
  • Boone Tanner: 20.80 lbs.
  • Jared Wyman: 20.20 lbs.
  • Jason Snyder: 20.15 lbs.
  • Corey Malocha: 18.45 lbs.

Steelhead

  • Don Harrison: 10.35 lbs.
  • Jason Snyder: 10.10 lbs.
  • Dan Bouchard 8.60 lbs.
  • Fred Kirby: 8.30 lbs.

Walleye

  • Tyler Auger: 8.90 lbs.

The 8th Annual Thunder Bay Bass Classic was won by Paul Gohlke and Billy McQuarrie.  The pair brought in a total of 19.30 lbs. of bass. They caught the second largest fish of the competition at 4.75 lbs. The pair has now won the event five times in the eight years the event has been run. They received a total of $1,900 for their efforts on Sunday afternoon.
