46th Brown Trout Tournament is still a go

ALPENA, Mich. –For the past couple of months, the board has been in a deadlock on whether the 46th annual Brown Trout Festival should still take place or not. On Monday evening, the board voted to just hold the fishing tournaments in 2020, since we are still dealing with the effects of COVID-19.

The plan is to not have a big tent this year, but to still have a small tent for the anglers to come for captain’s meetings and in case of any bad weather. President of the Brown Trout Festival Peggy Donakowski believes having the fishing tournaments is a step in the right direction.

“It’s awesome that we are still the longest running fishing tournament,” she said. It’s just nice to be able to hold part of the 46th annual Brown Trout Festival”.

Donakowski also mentioned that they are still looking for volunteers to help out during the 11 days of events from July 16-27.
