PRESQUE ISLE, Mich. — A lot of events around the state of Michigan have been canceled or postponed, due to COVID-19. However, some events are still going on. This Saturday, the Grand Lake Sportsmen’s Club will hold the 44th Annual Fish Derby.
“We can definitely keep the distancing,” said Terry McConnell. “People were out there fishing when Governor Gretchen Whitmer lifted the ban. That basically opened the door for us to have the fishing contest.”
The weigh-in is from 5 pm-8 pm at Fletcher Gilchrist Park (North End Park). Instead of having an awards gathering at the end of the weigh-in, the prizes will be delivered or mailed. Prizes will be awarded to those that place in the top five for each category. One prize per person, per category. Each fish will be weighed based on length.
