4-year-old’s mother speaks out for the first time after her son is found

ALPENA, Mich.–When authorities from the Alpena County Fire and Police Department were called around four o’ clock it was because 4-year-old Daniel had went missing.

Ashley Hilberg, the mother of 4-year-old Daniel, describes him as a fun loving–full of life boy, who loves bugs, frog and who is a bit shy. That is understandable why Daniel was too afraid to answer the police with K-9’s after he wandered off.

Alpena County Search and Rescue were on scene along with Michigan State Police and Oakland County Sheriffs Department with their K-9 unit to assist with the search. Daniel had went missing after his grandfather and his younger brother had been visiting a pond at the end of Trowbridge Drive, off of Golf Course Road.

Daniel’s mother arrived to the active scene after getting the call from her husband. Daniel was found just about 2 hours later, unharmed and whimpering from a wooded area close to the pond.

Ashley says she is extremely grateful for to the police, EMT, Alpena Township Fire Department and everyone that helped in and out of her neighborhood.  Her and her family is taking it day by day and spending as much time with him as possible.
