ALCONA, Mich. — The Alcona County Road commission is helping to prepare youth for future careers.
Through a partnership with the Alcona Community Schools Career and Technical Education Program, youth are being prepared for a wide range of high–wage, high-skill, and high-demand careers.
The CTE program targets kindergarten through 5th grade.
Managing Director of the Road Commission, Jesse Campbell, tells us why he thinks this is a great program.
Because of COVID-19, they were unable to invite students to the road commission and met virtually instead. Campbell saID there are many opportunities that youth may not be aware of and also said now is a good time to start planting the seed.
The road commission also provided a video showing safety information for all ages highlighting sight restrictions for snow–plow drivers. Additionally, the video showed the importance of wearing bright colors when near a snow–covered road and not playing near the road.
