2nd Avenue Bridge Work Continues Wednesday, Could Cause Delays

Beginning tomorrow at 8:30 am, the city will continue their work on the Second Avenue Bridge Project.

The contractor for the project will shut down one of the lanes of traffic on the bridge.

However, two lanes will still be maintained to allow for two-way traffic across the bridge, and signage and traffic delineators will be present to direct traffic through the area.

The closure is expected to last until 7:00pm tomorrow night unless weather or construction delays occur.

The following day, the contractor will open the bridge for extended periods of time due to cleaning. The bridge opening will interrupt traffic flow and commuters are asked to plan their trips accordingly.

The work is all part of $2.6million rehabilitation of the bridge, including a significant amount of concrete repair, steel repair and replacement, and electrical work.

The majority of funding comes from federal grants.
