Alpena — The 2nd Annual Thunder Bay River Costume Run/Walk takes over the Alpena County Fairgrounds on Saturday morning.

The race attracts all sorts of unique costumes for their 1 mile, 5K, and 10K run or walk. Last year was the inaugural race put on by the Sunrise Side Streakers, a nonprofit running group. Proceeds were donated to Feeding Kids Ministry.

This year, all proceeds will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Alpena. Race Organizer Bradley Przelawski plans to make sure a new organization receives the funds each year.

“We don’t have a costume run in town, so it’s unique for Alpena, and it worked out last year,” said Przeslawski. “I figured we’d do it again this year and maybe grow it in later years… we’ll see it.”

Runners will receive a t-shirt for participation. Awards will be handed out for ‘Best Costume’ for both adults and kids. Registration begins at 8:00 A.M. The races will begin around 10:00 A.M. Folks can register online or the day of the race. For more information, visit https://www.facebook.com/events/282777315847911/
