11th Annual Fishing Tournament

Once again the challenge is on to see who can bring in the heaviest bass and longest pike. Norway Party Store and Resort will host its 11th Year Fishing Tournament this weekend.

Every year around Memorial Day weekend, fishers and families gather at Norway Party Store and Resort to take on the challenge of reeling in the heaviest bass and longest pike.

Around 140 people sign up for the event every year and come from all over to witness what exactly people are reeling in and hoping that it’s a big one.

“They like coming in during weigh in time at three o clock to see who’s got the biggest fish. When you start bringing in big fish like that people really start gathering to look,” said Roland Frey, store owner. So far the heaviest bass that the tournament has seen was 5lbs. and 7oz., while the longest pike was around 33in.

If you think you have what it takes to reel in something bigger, there is a $10 entry fee to compete in the event.    The money will go towards a cash prize which will be awarded to whoever reels in the biggest catch. You must register before the tournament starts, the deadline is this Friday at 10pm.

The event will take place this Saturday from 7am until 3pm. Standard fishing rules do apply.
